Winterfest Ale redux

That winterfest ale? Never decided to carbonate :(
It seems my yeasty friends either decided to take a hike, or else something caused them all to meet an untimely end. Sunlight can kill yeast, and with the longer daylight hours the little apartment has been a lot sunnier....

At any rate, it's been 3 weeks since bottling and not a hint of bubbles. I tested one with a hydrometer and it showed a specific gravity (SG) of 1.010, which means there's still sugar in it. [Water has a SG of 1.000, finished beer is about the same, depending on the type of beer]. 2 days ago I made a starter of a new yeast culture using some sugarwater and a fresh packet of yeast, so this morning I cracked open all my winterfest ale bottles, poured out a bit of beer, and added some of the fresh yeast culture into them. Not something I want to do again! I hope this culture takes

Primary: BrewHouse Stout
Secondary: none
Bottled: BrewHouse Red Ale
Drinking: not much! A few aged espresso chocolate stouts, red ales, and a lonely IPA from last summer

Will be drowning in red ale and winterfest if they decide to carbonate!
